I added iThena PERF application version 1.03 for platforms windows_intelx86 and x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.

The application for Windows requires Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Theoretically, the problem with "freezing" should disappear in this version of the application.

Please inform me about possible problems ;)

Nothing has changed for my Linux computer, it still gets the same CNODE work units it got before, still gets .000000333 points per work unit.
How do you find the IPERF work units for Linux? They can't be selected in preferences as they aren't listed.

Currently, the form with preferences is not yet implemented on the scheduler side.
It is only web/database.

Let's solve the problems step by step.

PERF application works on other systems? I understand that the problem is on Windows XP? Other problems?

Yes problem is on Win XP, Win 7 machine is going OK.

I have been trying for the last hour or more to get it working but all attempts have failed so have stopped that computer getting any more work.

Did you run a test application (links to packed archives in the test topic) available in the forum on Windows XP?

Did you run a test application (links to packed archives in the test topic) available in the forum on Windows XP?

I ran two of them, just not the third one, but as stated in that forum post they kept getting an error.
I can try do a test with the wrapper launch version.

Just tried the R3 version but still can't run it get the following error message

wget_v1.20.3_v1.03_windows_intelx86.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point inet_pton could not be located in the dynamic linked library WS2_32.dll

I downloaded and installed the wget package for Windows but it did not help, get the same error.

It's 1 AM I am going to bed.

inet_pton I found has a lot to do with IP4 and IP6 internet protocols and Windows XP has poor IP6 support from Microsoft.
I did a bit more searching and have found that Windows XP does not support inet_pton.
Microsoft made support available from Windows Vista onwards.

Some more reading and Java SDK 1.5 was supposed to give Win XP support for inet_pton, so I downloaded it and installed it.

Good news inet_pton error went away, bad news it was replaced by another similar error

wget_v1.20.3_v1.03_windows_intelx86.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point EtwGetTraceEnableFlags could not be located in the dynamic linked library ntdll.dll

So some progress but maybe it is just a waste of time due to Win XP's age. A number of projects that have all worked in the past no longer work on XP, so when things get updated to use newer functionality XP drops another step back.

According to the information you sent, the problem is with the wget application.

In fact, version 1.20 removed support for Windows XP (url: https://eternallybored.org/misc/wget/).

In iThena PERF version 1.20.3 of wget is used.
So there is no support for Windows XP either.

But I think we can make iThena PERF compatible with Windows XP.
I will check it ;)

Just a friendly post to say. THANK YOU to the project admin!
The NEW iThena PERF version 1.03 app works fine across all 5 of my PC's (including Vista x64) after installing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Thank you for the new application, it runs very fast (PERF app) and explains the sudden jump in peoples totals as more work is done in same time of previous application.

I am currently having a couple of problems though (other than my Win XP issue which I have let go of).

On my Windows computer it seems to take ages to get a work unit after one has uploaded, possibly this is server load related, possibly not. Sometimes nothing is downloaded at all until I hit "update", even then nothing usually gets downloaded.

I get the message
"Requesting new tasks for CPU
Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks.
No tasks sent"

The other is on my Linux computer, it was able to down load a PERF work unit when a CNODE was already running and run both at the same time, uploading finished work and downloading new work for each app.
Worked great till something upset it hours or days later and the PERF wu would stop downloading and only CNODE would keep running. An update would get the PERF work units back again.

This has now stopped and I can only get CNODE work units again, hitting update does not get new PERF work but message "Not requesting tasks: non CPU intensive".

Not sure if it is just me, but thought I would pass information on.

Conan

EDIT: Currently 266,000 PERF work units available but I can't get any.

I think I may know why I am not getting tasks, or at least one reason.

With the tasks now so short, less than 5 minutes, they finish inside the backoff period, so when they finish they sit there till the 5 minute mark comes round before getting reported.
In the mean time Boinc Manager has contacted the server inside the backoff period, once when WU finished then when trying to report then again when the 5 minutes from end of WU. All this keeps me from getting more work.

My last Windows WU uploaded over 10 minutes ago and I am still waiting for the next to download, has taken over 3 hours today at one point.

The constant asking for work keeps putting me back in the queue so I don't get any work.

Hitting "update" only makes things worse for me it seems.

At least that is what it appears to be for me.

Same problem her as Conan.
PERF run smoothly, all CNODES fail and i don't get PERF again. Are the PERFs onl for testing connection? If good, only CNodes are sent?
5 PCs with Linux64, 2 MX, 3 Mint 19.3
All CNodes fail with

Pretty weird.
This problem always occurs only on Windows?

I give up doing updates to get PERF work units on my Linux machine. If it managers to down load one, well and good, if not well I will keep getting no points for CNODE work.

I don't mean running a CNODE and when finished running a PERF, I mean running both together.

Can this not be a function? The Linux guys don't get a benefit over the Windows users by running both as CNODE pays next to nothing.

GoofyxGrid can run 4 at a time all memory intensive and they upload and download as separate apps. So it can be done.

With the output help of all the Linux computers your project output would jump, I am sure.

At the moment the slightest hiccup stops PERF from dual running with CNODE and then it wont start again.

Also CNODE take 2,000 or so seconds to run, PERF takes under 4 minutes, many PERF work units can be run whilst one CNODE runs, so it efficient use resources.

Windows still has large gaps between uploading and down loading work to me, often well over 10 minutes.
WU finishes then waits till 5 minute period is up, then uploads WU. Then it just waits and tries every 5 minutes for work, getting "no tasks sent" each time. This can go on for a long time.
I have at the moment that finished at 10:14 (Australian time),
10:17 "no task sent"
10:22 "no task sent"
10:27 "no task sent"
It did not try again at the next 5 minute mark so I am still waiting for a WU

The computer is allowed work when in use so that is not the problem.

Thanks Rysiu, for your hard work and sorry to keep giving you problems

this is not a windows specific issue - but it only manifests on PERF app, on both windows and linux
my guess is the WUs generated have a problem, or some of the iperf targets are behaving differently
v1.03 was working fine, with longer runtimes (>30 minutes), but for the last few days is only running for ~3 minutes
unfortunately, this is shorter than the 5 minute timeout on contacting the server
which leads to some periods of no work taking place

I have attached my Ubuntu 18.04.4 32-bit computer, and it's running the 32-bit Windows version of BOINC 7.14.2, under Wine.
My PERF workunits are running for less than three minutes, and although they seem to finish correctly, I don't think they are working properly.
A typical Stderr output looks like:

It sort of works on WIndows, as there are no error reported (see below). There are some warnings and the tasks are very short. But most of the time, there are no tasks available and the scheduler waits for 5 minutes.
