Continuation of topic: https://root.ithena.net/usr/forum_thread.php?id=43 Tomorrow (16 April 2020) from around ~21:00 UTC I plan to migrate the iThena system (BOINC platform modules). For this reason the iThena project will be offline for several hours. I am also planning to implement a new version of iThena PERF application on Windows and Linux platforms. I will do this after the migration. |

Thanks for the heads up. Conan |

Unfortunately, I had a lot of additional problems with migration. However, the procedure was successful. Sorry for the long interruption. |

Rysium, Thank you for the heads up on what you have been planning and what has been done with the project and web site It is a great pleasure to see a project administrator letting us know what is happening with the project and web site. Some projects have disappeared for hours, days and sometimes weeks or months with no advanced notice and when It is better to get it right the first time than trying to fix something later! |

Now almost all tasks began to freeze. I do not think that this is due to migration Most likely the network is overloaded with a large number of hosts connected to the project Is there a calculation of the network load when performing your network tests? Although the project has the status of NCI, but unlike similar projects, it simply loads a different type of resources - connections and traffic instead of the CPU. Users may not take this into account simply by using existing “monkey farms” in the project. |

Tomorrow I will add new versions of PERF application. Theoretically, according to tests, the new version should never "freeze" - a timeout for specific commands has been added. Tomorrow we will test on BOINC. |

My request is for 32-bit Linux versions of the applications. |

Tomorrow I will add new versions of PERF application. What do I have to do, to finally get some recognised work on my penguin? Up to now you denied penguins any credits without ever given any proper reason, and I still never received any of these magic PERF stuff, that, while doing nothing more on their machines, get billions more credits for this. Tomorrow I will add new versions of PERF application. https://root.ithena.net/usr/show_user.php?userid=705 => he has 100's of systems. you have 1. you will never compete. |

Tomorrow I will add new versions of PERF application. I don't think he is trying to compete, he is asking for parity between Linux and Windows. 6 hours work on Linux should be close to equal to 6 hours work on Windows. So if Windows gets 12 points for those 6 hours then so too should Linux get 12 points. This is not what is happening and is the basis of the complaint, I believe. Conan |

I don't think he is trying to compete, he is asking for parity between Linux and Windows. Correct. Even if would employ 1000 penguins, I could not compete with any windows machine, because the project denies me without any reason proper credit. Grüße vom Sänger |

I know. But so far IMHO, I've yet to see any of these users ask nicely. All I could read was whining and cringing. |

Well I am one of those Linux users, I may not of asked yet, simply because the Admin knows about the issue and he doesn't need another chiming in. Rysiu has said he is developing another application for Linux and we await for this new App. However it would of been nice if the current Linux application had an increase in credits awarded. If that is not really possible due to the application, then as the Work Units are counted a Back Payment can be done for the work already done. Rysiu is a busy man, we know and respect that. Getting the new applications going is a higher priority at the moment. Us Linux users are still waiting patiently for something to happen along the lines of helping the Linux users get parity with Windows users. Just thinking out loud. Thanks Conan |

I know. It's just a plain and simple change of a number from 0.0000333 to 2, not really rocket science, but he wilful denies this plain and simple change. Reminding him of this anti-linux scheme is not whining. Grüße vom Sänger |

I have a Linux PERF work unit running at the moment, lets see how it goes. Conan |

I have a Linux PERF work unit running at the moment, lets see how it goes. Ran fine, 1 hour 27 minutes and I got 2 credits for it, over 1,000 times more than my last almost 900 CNODE work units combined points score. Conan |

So how exactly does one get a PERF task on a Linux host? Unchecked CNode and NRT boxes on this new form, but still receiving the "worthless" CNode tasks on all Linux machines. |

Excellent! Will it be possible to run CNode and PERF simultaneously at some point in Linux? Or is this to be an either/or situation? |

Excellent! Will it be possible to run CNode and PERF simultaneously at some point in Linux? Or is this to be an either/or situation? Just wondering if this possible, I did ask in another thread as well. It would be great for the Linux users, as we just don't get many PERF work units unless you really work on it, maybe an appinfo.xml file excluding cnode might get some PERF work units? I can't get any PERF work units all I get is Cnode, so no points for me just 0.00000333 per WU, so I wont be climbing any Stats lists, but if I could run both that would be great (also more points for Cnode would also be nice). Dreaming out loud. Conan |
