So, what will the parameters for OONI Probe badges be? (Sure, i'm being the devil's advocate here :) )

And has anyone ever gotten a CNode badge?

I guess you believe in the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy too don't you? :-)))

An interview appeared in NMN magazine: "Internet security - reality or only illusion?" (Polish title: "Bezpieczeństwo w sieci - rzeczywistość czy jedynie iluzja?").

Unfortunately, the content is only available in Polish.

However we strongly encourage you to read the content - you can find some words also about the iThena project.

Just my 2 cents (or whatever small denomination currency you'd like :) )
At first blush, the levels for the CNode badges seem high, based on how long i've been crunching them combined with the credit/WU. Might want to start it down one power of 2 (i.e. - 2^12)

Perf badge levels seem reasonable (if we could just get some of those elusive WUs :) (and yes, i read that you're having issues, so it's just meant to be a good natured dig)

Looking at your account it looks like both of us would have the Bronze badge for both kinds of tasks and be a just a bit short of Silver.

This is a reoccurring issue for my Windows 7 machine. This system will go days without receiving an iThena WU.

OS: Windows 7 HP x64
CPU: Intel Core i7 920
BOINC: 7.16.7
BOINC GUI: BoincTasks 1.78

This is what BOINC reports
265 iThena 9/15/2020 10:28:52 AM Requesting new tasks for CPU
266 iThena 9/15/2020 10:28:56 AM Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

268 iThena 9/15/2020 10:28:56 AM Project requested delay of 303 seconds

My last completed WU was
Reported: OK -- iThena 1.03 iThena PERF PERF_TESTS_0D_5889863_2_30_0 -- [Run Time]00:02:13 (00:00:00) -- [Completed]9/13/2020 7:35:33 PM -- [Reported]9/13/2020 7:40:33 PM

I would just like to know what is going on?

F$

ANY LINUX users seeing the same problems?
I see the SAME THING across all 5 of my WINDOWS PC's almost all the time. Even if I force a manual update I get NOTHNG.
** Suspect something (setting, configuration, etc) is NOT right on the PROJECT SERVER for Windows PC's.

I have both Linux and Windows pc's and see it on both, it will do that for awhile and then boom I get some and then it does it again.

I've been trying to come up with an app_config.xml file to only get one or the other kind of tasks, they often have both but badges are badges and sometimes I get many more of one kind than the other and I would rather not abort tasks, this is what I have come up with but I don't think the Cnode tasks don't have the correct name:

<app_config>
<app>
<name>ithena_cnode</name>
<max_concurrent>0</max_concurrent>
</app>
<app>
<name>ithena_perf</name>
<max_concurrent>30</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

In this example I would run up to 30 Perf tasks but not run any Cnode tasks but when I looked at some completed Cnode tasks they don't have that name in them so it won't work. Any ideas?

A day after the project admin posted in the News forum that they had a "storage issue" the project server status page frequently times out for me when I try to load it.

Some time in the last two days the project issued two GHOST TASKS to my account with five PC'S.

Finally got the server status page to load...
Server status page shows lots of workunits waiting for assimilation:
Tasks ready to send 176839
Tasks in progress 7079
Workunits waiting for validation 190
Workunits waiting for assimilation 216985
Workunits waiting for file deletion 8796
Tasks waiting for file deletion 1030
Transitioner backlog (hours) 30.00

And several things disabled:
Download server 	root.ithena.net 	Running
Upload server 	root.ithena.net 	Running
Scheduler 	boinc-server 	Running
feeder 	boinc-server 	Running
transitioner 	boinc-server 	Running
file_deleter 	boinc-server 	Running
sample_trivial_validator (ithena_cnode) 	boinc-server 	Running
sample_trivial_validator_perf_4mod0 (ithena_perf) 	boinc-server 	Running
sample_trivial_validator_perf_4mod1 (ithena_perf) 	boinc-server 	Running
sample_trivial_validator_perf_4mod2 (ithena_perf) 	boinc-server 	Running
sample_trivial_validator_perf_4mod3 (ithena_perf) 	boinc-server 	Running

sample_assimilator_perf_2mod0 (ithena_perf) 	boinc-server 	Not Running

db_purge (ithena_cnode) 	boinc-server 	Not Running
db_purge2 (ithena_perf) 	boinc-server 	Not Running

I think the Admin is struggling with the popularity of the Project...usually the way to fix it is bigger and more SSD drives but that means more and more money and then more and more Server to handle them as you change the software to seperate tasks to different drives so one drive isn't busy with EVERY task. It's a process most projects go thru and growing pains are expected. Personally I think the Admin has done a great job keeping us informed and working around and thru the problems and getting the Project back ASAP each time it goes down. I hope in time the Admin can access the network of Boinc Admins to get some ideas about how to handle the growing pains as efficiently as possible unlike when the GoofyX Admin tried to do it on their own and had serious downtime as a result.

Appears things are getting better with the assimilation backlog as noted below..
3 of 5 PC's in last 24 hours have been getting tasks on a semi-regular basis but the other two are getting the "no new tasks available message".

Task data as of 16 Jul 2020, 18:14:17 UTC
Tasks ready to send	162305
Tasks in progress	4847
Workunits waiting for validation	156
Workunits waiting for assimilation	12225
Workunits waiting for file deletion	192734
Tasks waiting for file deletion	34310
Transitioner backlog (hours)	0.11

I have a few of my pc's set to no new tasks but all the rest of them are getting tasks on an irregular but hourly or so basis. I still get the upload retry on a few units as well but not anything like it used to be.

Now the problem is on the assimilator deamon.

The problem with the disk space is a little different.
It's not typically disk space.

I made some design/implementation bugs in the design.
The problem is the number of files on the partition.
I'm currently removing this problem.

There may still be 'No space left on device' errors.
I think this problem will be gone by this Sunday.

According to the forum post:
https://root.ithena.net/usr/forum_thread.php?id=39&postid=658#658

I'm going to introduce better credit for Thena CNode tasks.

I will initially set 2 credits per task.

New settings will only be visible after a certain period of time.

The current tasks still have the old configuration. However, the new tasks will already have higher credit values.

The update of the historical "cnode beta" series badges has been disabled.
These badges will no longer be changed.

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!

Post:
The lack of change in credits for CNode is due to another problem.
The problem is historical badge (different scale).

But right now I've decided to block badge updates for "cnode beta".
These badges updates have been disabled.

Tomorrow I'll check all and set up static credits for cnode in the task generator.

Tomorrow, I'll announce the change of the cnode credits in the task generator in the additional news.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

My thought would be you can't change the past, so fix the present so the future is better. An example is climate change, as a World we polluted the heck out of things not knowing better, but NOW we do know better so let's change things going forward and make things better, or at least slow the bad things. Everything starts someplace with a single step.

Unfortunately, I have not solved the problem with data distribution.
The exact location of the error is unknown to me.
Unfortunately, I haven't done a full diagnostic.

However, I have now sent a message on the BOINC mailing list (boinc_dev).
Link: https://groups.google.com/a/ssl.berkeley.edu/forum/#!topic/boinc_dev/POggDzsEJHg

So why not fix the Linux credits while you are waiting for a response?!!! You are obviously using a fixed credit system here and in the example I just used ARM processors are doing workunits in @2000 seconds each and gettting 0.00000333 credits for them while Windows machines are taking @188 seconds for each workunit and getting 2 credits for each one completed.
