You could have versions of this logo in e.g. bronze, silver, gold, amethyst, ruby, turquoise, jade (you already have that), sapphire and emerald.
For the initial stage you can replace 'iThena' with 'Beta'.

I think classic color versions can be ok.
The "Beta" stamp itself seems to me a bit too little.
Maybe if there is not enough space on the badges then "iTh" plus the "Beta" symbol?

It's hard for me to define ... We must see the variants very calmly;)

Ok, since was the easiest so far I made two versions for the "initial stage"-badges:

Maybe a bit too big since it will be downscaled on most of the web pages anyway. alpha and beta could also be combined if desired but then iTh must be removed.
I guess I will remove that anyway when I put credit numbers on it (probably, not sure yet).

It looks interesting ;)
Maybe instead of the number of credits, add something like military ranks? For example, some star/s? ;)
Maybe another idea? ;)

Yeah, good idea. This way it won't be fixed to numbers and you can vary it later when you introduce the "real" credits.
Don't know when I will be finished with it, probably not before tomorrow evening...

I think we can wait this moment ;)

I don't get it. Where would these ranks be based on, other than the amount of WUs and/or credit -credit being the product of a constant * the amount of processed WUs?
And may I point to the fact that the military style badges that were introduced by Collatz are not being used by the sites that make the BOINC signatures? They prefer the old ones, and so do I

The matter of assigning badges is a side matter.
It is not a problem...
I think that at the initial stage we will not introduce a revolution and everything will be fair.
So at the initial stage badges will probably play the main role.
The credits for this version of the application are very, very small...

Why are they not used? Are there any real statements? The issues of taste and aesthetics are different for different people.

I am open to all suggestions;)
We have to choose something together and decide;)

I wonder what you are talking about here. There are several projects with badges which have stars in it - yoyo, WUProp, Amicable...
Some months ago I discovered that Collatz has introduced new badges inside the project, but as far as I've readed in this thread, there is no statement of Bok or anyone else from stats sites that they won't display these badges, maybe there's another reason for it - can you proof that with another link maybe?
So far Collatz is the only one with new badges which are not replaced on the stats sites as far as I know.
Besides: as far as I know the badges on Collatz look more like police badges from the USA and not from the military

I wasn't even aware that Collatz had changed it's badges. Will have to take a look.

It's obviously easier when projects publish the badges in the badge_user file, but I can handle the other cases too (like Collatz)

I almost thought that... ;-)
Hm, it's a bit strange anyway since Slicker didn't answer to anything when you read the whole thread - maybe there's a reason to it?
Obviously the badges aren't exported because they are stored in a separate disk directory with consecutively numbered files.
I'm not sure but I guess the change did happen after the last big hard disk/project accident (don't know anymore when it's happened, was it at the end of 2018? Or maybe earlier), where everything got lost and he had to start from scratch.
Also the range is way bigger now, the last badge is for 100 billion credits.

On my computer the work units take between 30-40 minutes.
At that rate, each work unit should be granted about 10 credits.
This is just my opinion.

I have a computer running this project (just one for testing so far before I add more) and it has returned more than 80 work units in the last few days. All were completed and validated successfully, but had very short run times on a fairly low powered computer, and NONE were granted any credits at all, so this still seems to be a problem...

Maybe with the alpha / beta letter inside it is not a stupid idea?

Doesn't look very project relevant then...
How's this:

I'm currently working on the stars badges, probably I can show them later...

Edit:
Bad transparency, something went wrong there...

Hm too late to edit now...
I'm going over to another thread with the badges, this here should be for the no credits issue.

I don't care about badges, but for projects like this I do care about credit. At the current rate we will be dead before anyone gets a badge anyway. How long is this going to continue?

@Rysiu - I think that some sort of credit is expected for processing tasks, be it Beta or not. We the users are using our resources like electricity which in Australia is very expensive ( $0.27 KWh) as well as our computers. A work unit that runs for 2000 seconds should get about somewhere between 10 and 20 credits I believe based on other NCI projects.

It is the credits/Badges/Teams that create the challenges between these entities that make distributed computing interesting apart from the science.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Agreed.

I give a WU that is on the Gridcoin whitelist 100,000 runtime hours (measured at WUProps) and move on.
My loyalty is to science, so I made a rule that any project that I decide to give my time to will get 100,000 credits worth of work AND 1000 hours per WU.
If I really like the project, but it's not whitelisted on Gridcoin; 5000 or 10000 hours to some of the WU's.

My laptop broke 1000 hours for iThena today and still 0 credits showing.

It's feeling like iThena is the house guest that's come to stay on my computer but refuses to pay any rent...

Get the credit situation sorted, please!

Well, the project is giving (and showing) credit now. But in a way I think this is actually worse since getting .00000333 credits per work unit instead of straight zero shows that this is intentional instead of a bug/oversight. When it will take months or more of processing time to earn a single credit point, and the top user on the server has a TOTAL of 0.07224000 credits, there really isn't much incentive to stick around...
